A devotional By Elder G. Mordaunt
This is the story of a young man and a rusted out old car.
A young man was passing by a junk yard of old rusted out cars, when he spied out a rusted out 1957 Corvette Stingray, for it was ready to be crushed for scrap. He went into the yard and said to the junkyard owner not to crush it; that he would buy it from him. The owner scratching his head said ok, it’s your money, and sold it to him. So the young man arranged to have the rusted out Stingray to be delivered to his home. Now he didn’t waste any time to let it continue to rust at his home, so he began to work on it piece by piece. He began to restore all the body panels, the nuts and bolts, the interior, and the motor. And in a period of three years he had restored it to showroom condition. It looked as if it had just come out of the Factory.
You know, when God came along and saw us rusted out through sin and selfishness and sickness, and being ready to be crushed by Satan. He bought us back, paid the price for our redemption which cost Him the life of His Son. He began to restore us piece by piece, inside and out, for He is not finished with us yet, but when He has finished with us we will be restored back to our original condition right out of the Eden showrooms. And when that happens all of the Universe will be shouting for joy.
God is in the restoration business. In Luke 4: 8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shrivelled hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there. 9 Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”10 He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored.
Jesus restored the man’s sight who was born blind in John 9. He restored the flesh of the ten leper’s, and restored three persons who died back to life. And He will restore us back to Edenic condition when Jesus comes the second time and take us back to be with Him in His Father’s house, so God is restoring us right now and will present us without spot or wrinkle, He has promised to do it for us, for we are His workmanship. Amen.
