”There was a little boy about five years old (HMS Richards) whose grandfather loved him greatly. He took the boy with him everywhere he went, and sometimes he would take him up into the Rocky Mountains, where he used to go trapping.

When the little fellow’s legs would wear out, the strong grandfather would put him on his back and carry him for miles and miles. One evening they were in the mountains miles away from home, and although it was after sunset, the grandfather had to go farther up the canyon to look after some traps. He found a large rock with a hole in it about five feet from the ground (1.5 meters), just about the size of that little boy.

So, he put him in it and said, “Now, don’t be afraid; nothing can get you up here. You can sleep if you want; nothing will harm you. And I will come back and take you home.” The little boy lay there. The night closed in, dark; the wind moaned around that big rock, and the coyotes began to howl. If there is anything on earth that is mournful – it is that.

The boy started having an imagination that always got him in trouble, but his grandfather had said, “I will come back.” And on that promise, he fell asleep. Grandfather did come back and took him home. I believe that little boy was scared; I believe that was not an easy experience, however, because his grandfather never lied – he hung onto those words.

Believed it and put trust in His word.“There was a little boy about five years old (HMS Richards) whose grandfather loved him greatly. “In this, we can see that trust is that state of mind where you choose to act on a conviction.”

However, I’d like to talk more now on the issue of faith in a spiritual sense.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

““…without faith it is impossible to please Him…”““…without faith it is impossible to please Him…”

Jesus says that a little faith as that of the smallest seed can move the mountains, and in other places, He says that whatever we ask, in faith we will receive… (Matt. 21:22; 17:20). This Faith we must understand.

In Matt. 14:22-29 – we learn more about faith. We can therefore summarise this by saying that faith is acting on God’s word. If God says be still, I am with you. Faith has that inner peace amidst a storm whereby one says, and I am certain God is with me. Not doubting. The human flesh might still be weak, but in heart, one can be strong and firm.
