One of the most astounding news I have heard in very recent times is that Pope Francis has said:  that Christians should not evangelise and try to convert others of different faiths. This statement goes against what Jesus Christ said to His Disciples just before He ascended to heaven:

Matt. 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

So who do we obey?  What Jesus said? or what the pope has said? Right from the beginning of Christ’s ministry when He called His first Disciples He bade them to come, follow Me and I will make you fishers of men. (Matthew 4:19.) and for three and a half years they learned from Jesus how to fish for men. During Jesus ministry He sent out the twelve and gave them authority to  drive out evil spirits and heal all disease and and sickness. (Matt. 10:1)

Just before Jesus returned to His Father, He said to His Disciples to go and witness to the world. (See Acts 1:8) so then, who do we obey? The commands of Christ, or the commands of men?

I know who I will obey, Jesus! For there is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12.)

So the main reason why we are Christians, is to tell the world that Jesus is the only Way[1]  to eternal life, the Truth[2]  about eternal life, and the eternal Life[3]  is through Him.
