One of the most amazing prophecies in the Bible is found in Daniel Chapter 2. It is about a King who had a dream and could not remember it. This chapter shows that only God can predict the future, because he knows the end from the beginning.

Isaiah 46:9, 10 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.

2 Peter 1:19 And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

The Prophetic Dream of King Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel Chapter 2.

In the second year of King Nebuchadnezzar’s reign he had a dream that disturbed him. The problem was that he could not remember the particulars of the dream. So he call all the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologists to tell him what he dreamed. But when they could not tell him his dream he placed them under a death decree which included Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. (Daniel 2:1- 12.)

King Nebuchadnezzar had threatened all the magicians, the enchanters sorcerers, and astrologists with a death decree if they could not tell the king what he dreamed. Daniel asked for time and he would reveal to the King his dream. And so he and his three friends had an all night prayer session and God revealed the dream to Daniel and Daniel praises his God for revealing the dream to him and his three friends. (Daniel 2:14-23)

Daniel reveals to the King that God in heaven can reveal hidden mysteries and not men, and begins to tell the King the dream that he could not remember. That he dreamed of an enormous statue of different metals. The head was pure Gold, it’s arms and chest was silver, it’s belly and thighs were of bronze and its legs were of iron and it’s feet were iron mixed with miry clay. And then a Rock was cut out , but not by human hands, struck the statue on the feet and became a huge mountain. (Daniel 2:31-35)

Interpretation

Head of Gold:  Daniel proceeds to tell the King that he is the head of gold, that Babylon was the golden kingdom. (Daniel 2:36- 38.) Babylon ruled the then known world from 605 BC to 538 BC.
Breast and Arms of Silver: as silver is inferior to gold, so too were the kingdom of the Medes and the Persians who ruled the world from 538 BC to 331 BC. Dan. 2:39.
The next Kingdom to rule the world was the Greeks. It was through the military leadership of Alexander the Great who defeated Persia at the Battle of Arbela in 331 BC. Their soldiers all wore bronze armour and shields. Dan.2:32.
The next Kingdom to rule the world was the Iron Monarchy of Rome, which ruled the world for almost 600 years. It came to an end in 446 AD which is depicted with the legs of Iron.
The King’s dream’s depiction of the image which had four different metals: Gold, silver, bronze and iron. These represented four world kingdoms that would rule the world. After these kingdoms you would expect that another kingdom would arise to rule the world. But that is not what Nebuchadnezzar dreamed. The last part of the statue; the feet, it was a mixture of iron and miry clay. This indicated that it would be a divided kingdom, partly strong and partly weak. As iron mixed with clay, cannot be united, no one will be able to unite together. Rome was never defeated, it broke up into a divided kingdom of Western Europe. (Daniel 2:33, 41-43.)
Throughout history there has been many attempts to unite Western Europe, and it has failed. In recent times an attempt was made to unite Western Europe by economic means; by the euro and trade. But it did not last. England decided to succeed from the European alliance with Brexit. Thus ending any attempt to unite Europe
While Nebuchadnezzar was watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands and smashed the statue and destroyed it, leaving no trace. Daniel 2:34, 35.
But God will set up a Kingdom Himself that will never be destroyed or left to other people. This rock will destroy the image.

The rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and gold to pieces is none other that Jesus Christ at His second coming. The kingdoms of the world will cease to exist and God’s Kingdom will take their place. The great God has shown the king the future of this world, and that the dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy. (verse Daniel 2:45)
